I’m into books.
And I wear several hats in the books/publishing/literary world which I think gives me a unique perspective and voice.
Firstly, I’m an author with several novels and other work to my name. I’ve been published by major publishing houses (Random House, Penguin Books, Hodder Headline) and also by small niche publishers. My first novel 50 Ways of Saying Fabulous was also adapted into a feature film.
Since 1990 I’ve been managing an independent GLBT specialist bookshop in Sydney and so I have an extremely comprehensive knowledge of this particular niche of literature. I also read as much as I can, mostly fiction, and usually with an eye to what will prove popular in the bookshop where I work. And I review books for DNA Magazine, which I’ve been doing since their first issue in 2001.
In 2012, I began self-publishing my own ebooks which I find an extremely satisfying and exciting new opportunity. And in that same year, I also began this blog, so that I can share my reviews, news and views on books, queer literature and my own work more easily.
