The dramatic set-up of this new gay film is intriguing: Troy returns to LA after living and working in Barcelona. He looks up his ex, Jonathan, who was really crushed when Troy ended their summer romance five years ago to go and live in Spain. Jonathan is now in a serious relationship with a very sexy Latino guy, Raoul; however, feelings still linger between Troy and Jonathan and they start to spend some time together. Adding to the complexity, there is also some erotic frisson between Troy and Raoul… This is one of those rare gay-themed films where all the elements combine to make for a satisfying entertainment. The cinematography is striking with a strong visual sense and eye for colour – LA has seldom looked better! The three very attractive lead actors are superb, especially Australian Murray Bartlett as the sexy, rather shiftless Troy, who can’t seem to commit. And the tantalising plot set-up plays out in interesting and unexpected ways.
